Goldhaber Prize Application Form

Eligibility Requirements:

This award is open to women graduate students in Physics who are enrolled in the graduate program at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and/or performing their thesis research at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The applicant must have been admitted to the candidacy for the doctoral degree and not be receiving her degree prior to the calendar year of the award.

The award recipient will be announced by the end of June of this year, and the award ceremony will take place in Summer of the current year. The winner will be expected to give a short seminar on her work at the award ceremony.

Application Procedure:

Applications can be submitted by any female graduate student in Physics performing her thesis work at BNL and/or enrolled in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at SUNY Stony Brook.

The applicants should provide:

  • Personal Data,
  • copies of at least one paper to which they have made a substantial contribution,
  • one to two letters of recommendation highlighting their accomplishments,
  • a list of their publications, 
  • a resume, and
  • a statement or letter about their work and future goals.

The Physics Department of the student's institution must furnish verification of her candidacy, and the expected date of receipt of degree.

Stop & Save Instructions:

  • This online application form has a "Stop & Save" feature that provides applicants with the ability to stop, save their responses, and come back at a later time to resume their online application at the same point where they left off.
  • To use the "Stop & Save" feature, applicants must have cookies enabled, cannot delete the application cookie until they have completed their application, and must use the same computer to answer all application questions.

All materials should be submitted by April 1.
