Nonproliferation and National Security Department

Series Registration

BNL Scientists and consultants will deliver five lectures on reactor technology, starting with traditional reactors (LWRs, PWRs, CANDU) and continuing with small modular reactors and other advanced reactor designs that are currently being considered or may be considered in the future for licensing in the United States or elsewhere.

The purpose of these lectures is to educate safeguards practitioners in the DOE network of laboratories, plants, and sites who may not have expertise in reactor technology so that they can effectively contribute to the development and implementation of safeguards for reactors of the future.

The lectures will be 45 minutes in duration and will be followed by Q&A and open discussion of the challenges related to the implementation of safeguards posed by advanced reactors.

All lectures are from 1:00 p.m. EST to 2:30 p.m.
